Welcome to the SXS Club of Australia
The SXS Club of Australia is Australia’s first Motorcycling Australia affiliated SXS specific club and was established to provide recreational SXS owners with opportunities to ride.
We are not about racing at all, though we do admire those who do take part in this aspect of our sport. We are an adventuring, camping, socialising group of SXS drivers who encourage family participation. We are however fiercely protective of members, and behaviour that goes against our club code of conduct will be dealt with swiftly and firmly. We have neither the time nor the patience for antisocial behaviour.
The club was initiated in South Australia and has therefore established affiliation with Motorcycling South Australia, as is the process within MA to join through the local state governing body, however the rides conducted by the club will certainly not be limited to South Australia alone.
As memberships grow within any particular region in Australia beyond SA, members in that area will be encouraged to help initiate a new chapter of the club in their region, all under the national umbrella of the SXS Club of Australia. This way their own regional rides can be created with all the Motorcycling Australia and SXS Club of Australia support.
As more chapters are created, riders in all regions will be encouraged to take part in as many rides as they like, in whatever regions they choose. If you are a member of the SXS Club of Australia, you are a member of all chapters.
We aim to have at least 5 club rides in the South/Central region each year, with some being one location “camp away” style events with a camp home base that you ride out from and back to, and others being more like a led trail ride on one or more properties, but always consisting of a 3 day weekend. The usual schedule is allowing Friday morning to get to the property, with riding planned through to midday Sunday, giving most the opportunity to get back home for work on Monday. Once a year we aim to have one Adventure Ride, usually the final ride of the season. These will usually be more remote and potentially more challenging.
This is a club and not a commercial tour operation business, therefore the cost of rides is limited to only property access cost plus the small MA insurance levy, making the rides by far the most cost effective way to use your SXS with public liability insurance cover.
The club aims to also raise money to donate to regional volunteer groups in the areas where we conduct our rides, which also helps us to access many of the private properties on which the rides are held.
There are quite a few other ride opportunities already out there for recreational SXS users and we certainly don’t want to say this club should be your only choice. We simply want to offer more ride opportunities to SXS enthusiasts and as a club, we can all chip in and help to keep it cost effective. In keeping with this theme, membership to the SXS Club of Australia is absolutely free. Costs of the initial setup and running of the club have been graciously provided by our major sponsor, BRP Australia (Can-Am), with the aim of providing Australian SXS users of all brands with more opportunities to ride.
The club is independent from industry control, however we will be working very closely with manufacturers and other industry related companies to ensure the entire industry benefits from what we are doing. We even have an Industry Liaison Officer on the club Executive Committee, to keep the information and benefits flowing both ways between the club, the manufacturers and other industry entities. It must be said that Can-Am (BRP Asia Pacific) have been instrumental in getting the program off the ground, however the club is for everyone, and owners of all acknowledged brands of SXS vehicles are encouraged to be members. There is a list of accepted brands but if you own a SXS from a non listed manufacturer, feel free to contact us to have this additional manufacturer considered for inclusion.
47industries will be hosting a monthly video and audio podcast called the SXS Australia Podcast, and this along with the club Facebook page will be the key places to find information about past and upcoming ride events, and all things SXS Club of Australia related.
We all just want to have adventures, drive our SXS’s and have a ball, so join up and come along. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our Industry Liaison Officer, Mick Andrewartha at mick.andrewartha@gmail.com or call him on 0407 795 295.
